Advancing Technology at Victoria Hospital

Help Victoria Hospital Set a New Standard in Cutting Edge Innovation

Goal: $100,000

Victoria Hospital is home to the largest Day Surgery program in Manitoba, with over 15,000 procedures performed annually.

Victoria Hospital is also the Provincial Centre for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and completes 300 bariatric surgeries per year.

Our hospital performs more laparoscopic surgeries annually than any other hospital in our province, ensuring that community members like you and your family receive the best possible care.

Victoria Hospital also has a robust Inpatient Medicine program that provides care to over 1,000 individuals each year.

While our hospital’s Surgery and Inpatient Medicine programs continue to provide excellent care for you and our community, the last significant upgrade to the hospital’s technology was more than a decade ago.

We need your help to upgrade Victoria Hospital’s equipment in order to keep pace with advancements in technology and provide the best possible care for our community.

“Upgrading our aging technology to state-of-the-art equipment would be the most transformative improvement in the OR in over a decade, ensuring that we continue to deliver excellent care well into the future.” – Dr. Chris Andrew, Head of Surgery

The upgrades could include:

OR Theatre Upgrades
At Victoria Hospital, surgical care is changing in remarkable ways. New technology allows procedures to be less invasive, which helps patients recover faster, spend less time in the hospital, and return to home and their families sooner. Investing in this equipment not only benefits patients today but ensures our hospital

Last upgraded over 10 years ago, Operating Room Theatre #4 theatre would benefit from upgrades to become a state-of-the-art integrated minimally invasive surgical suite.

Vein Finder & Handheld Ultrasound Device

Accessing veins for IV starts can be challenging and painful for patients, especially those with hard-to-find veins. There are two essential tools that can make a real difference:

Vein Finder: Illuminates veins beneath the skin, allowing nurses to easily locate the best vein for IV access.

Handheld Ultrasound Device: This portable tool helps nurses visualize the blood vessels in real-time, ensuring precise, first-attempt IV insertions.

These tools will reduce patient discomfort, improve treatment efficiency, and enhance overall care on the inpatient units.

The Future of Victoria Hospital Begins Now

Our goal to kick start the first phase of upgraded technology at our hospital is $100,000 – and your gift today will bring us one step closer to the best possible care for our patients. Your gift in advance of our Miracle Garden Party Fund-A-Need auction will bring the benefits of upgraded technology to thousands of our families, neighbours, and friends each year.
