In collaboration with Victoria Lifeline, Victoria Hospital Foundation is dedicated to supporting meaningful projects, programs, and initiatives that enhance the health and well-being of Manitobans. Understanding the connection between healthy living and aging safely at home, the Healthy Community Partnership Grant was created to foster opportunities for health promotion among older adults.

This grant provides funding to organizations primarily serving older adults, enabling them to purchase equipment and support activities or programs that promote health, independence, and overall well-being.

A total of $10,000 is available, with funds allocated and awarded according to the grant’s established evaluation criteria.

Eligible applicants are non-profit community organizations in Manitoba that incorporate older adults into their activities or programming.

While affiliation with Victoria Lifeline service is not required, priority will be given to communities where Victoria Lifeline service is available.

Funds can be used for programs and/or activities or to purchase equipment related to health promotion. Preference will be given to supporting the creation of a new activity and/or service, or expanding a current one, rather than providing ongoing funding for an already existing program and/or service.

Please note that grant funding cannot be used for the following:

  • fundraising or cash prizes
  • capital investment for facility construction
  • taxes, insurance, utilities, or office rental
  • deficit reduction

Applicants must submit a detailed budget outlining all prospective and confirmed funding sources, as well as the amount requested from Victoria Lifeline.

For expenses exceeding $100, please include a quote.

Projects must be completed by the end of the fiscal year in which the grant is awarded.

Funds must be used strictly for the purpose outlined in the application. Any changes to the project after funding is awarded require prior approval from Victoria Lifeline.

Applications will be evaluated by a sub-committee based on the following criteria:

  • Alignment with Victoria Lifeline’s Mission and Guiding Principles
  • Potential impact on participants’ health (mental, social, and physical)
  • Number of older adults involved
  • Duration and level of engagement in the proposed project
  • Victoria Lifeline’s current level of presence in the community
  • Sustainability of the program, activity, or equipment

Previous Grants Awarded

This year, the collaborative grant by Victoria Lifeline and Victoria Hospital Foundation is awarding $10,000 to six incredible organizations across Manitoba. These grants will help fund essential equipment and develop innovative programs directly impacting seniors’ physical, mental, and social well-being.

In today’s world, cultivating a sense of community and belonging for seniors is more important than ever before. In many communities across the province, local senior resource programs and other not-for-profit organizations provide the vital connections seniors need to thrive and live independently. We’re incredibly proud of the impact the 2023 Healthy Community Partnership Grant has made on the lives of so many older adults in Manitoba.
