About the Presenter
With 16 years of experience in nursing, Alison is a dedicated healthcare professional specializing in dementia care, geriatrics, and wound care. Having completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2004, a Bachelor of Nursing in 2008, and a Master of Science in Nursing in 2013, Alison has developed a deep understanding of the unique healthcare needs of older adults, particularly in the areas of person-centered care.
Currently, Alison serves as the Clinical Nurse Specialist at Victoria Hospital, where she is responsible for providing expert clinical leadership, advancing nursing practice, and promoting best practices in geriatric care, dementia care and wound care. In this role, Alison is committed to improving patient care and outcomes, with a strong focus on the implementation of person-centered approaches to engage and support older adults and their families.
In 2021, Alison became certified in Gerontological Nursing by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), further solidifying her expertise and commitment to advancing care for older adults.
As a member of the Canadian Gerontological Nurses Association (CGNA), the Manitoba Gerontological Nurses Association (MGNA), and the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry (CAGP) for over six years, Alison has continued to stay current with best practices in geriatric care, particularly around strategies that enhance patient outcomes.
