Virtual Trip Supports Well-Being of Vic Staff

Although the COVID-19 pandemic prevents us from travelling around the globe, staff at The Vic experienced a special — and virtual — trip to Mexico.

In the first week of February, hospital staff received a series of emails simulating a vacation to Mexico, including sunny skies, warm winds and crashing waves. All staff received authentic Mexican treats and a chance to win prizes, made possible through the generosity of The Vic Foundation’s supporters.

This virtual trip to Mexico created a welcome break for hospital staff, who are coping with added stress and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. These treats, prizes and relaxation breaks were designed to lower stress and support the health and well-being of staff.

“It is important to us that we let our staff know how proud we are of them,” said Rachel Ferguson, COO of Victoria General Hospital and ACCESS Fort Garry. “They show up every day and do their very best in extremely high-pressure and challenging times. We appreciate them very much."

The leadership team at The Vic is already planning the next virtual vacation for staff. Next stop, Japan!
