Victoria Hospital Foundation understands that home is where most people want to be when recovering from illness, managing a disability, or as a normal part of aging.
But for many Manitobans, getting reliable home care isn’t easy. Wait times, costs, and scheduling challenges can make it tough to get the support they need. We wanted to make an impact in the community by empowering initiatives that make quality care more accessible and affordable.
Thanks to your generosity, we recently made an impact investment in Care Possible to enhance the availability of home care services for Manitobans and help more people get the right care, in the comfort of their home.
Supporting the Mission of Care Possible
Care Possible is a non-profit social enterprise by Manitoba Possible, dedicated to providing affordable, flexible, and preference-based in-home and respite care services. Manitoba Possible heard from Manitobans who were struggling to connect with care providers for their families and took action by establishing the service to support seniors, individuals with disabilities, family caregivers, and patients recovering from illness or surgery. The Care Possible mission is to ensure that every Manitoban who accesses care has an excellent experience.

Recently, we joined our partners at the social finance firm Boann Social Impact to announce a $1.02 million impact investment in Care Possible in the form of a repayable interest-bearing loan. This transformative investment provides Manitoba Possible with the runway to scale Care Possible into a sustainable social enterprise that breaks down barriers for Manitobans in need of care and those who provide it. These barriers include access to choice in who you work with, financial barriers, equitable treatment, administrative complexities, and safety concerns.
Thanks to support from our Foundation and Boann Social Impact, Care Possible can reach more people who might otherwise go without care. That also means more Manitobans can have shorter hospital stays, recover more comfortably at home, and stay independent longer.
Creating a Stronger Community Together
The benefits don’t stop at individual households. Increasing home care capacity has a positive effect on all hospitals, including here at Victoria Hospital. Affordable, well-coordinated home care helps ease the strain on hospitals, opens beds for those who need them most, and supports healthier communities overall. Families can rest easier knowing their loved ones are cared for, while clients enjoy more choice and control over how that care is delivered.
Since launching in 2022, Care Possible has experienced continual growth, facilitating thousands of hours of care and now proudly serving over 2000 registered users. This groundbreaking online technology makes care more accessible for those in need with features that include access to a community of vetted care providers, secure online payment, scheduling, record keeping, and communication tools. Thanks to you, Care Possible is growing – helping more Manitobans get safe, reliable, and affordable care at home, right where they want to be.
