At Victoria Hospital Foundation, we are passionate about supporting the mental wellness of patients, staff, and our entire community.
Our Foundation is dedicated to supporting the wellness of staff at Victoria Hospital, ACCESS Fort Garry, and Victoria Lifeline. We strive to create resources to support the mental well-being of our healthcare workers as they provide the best care possible for our community. We soon realized that everyone here in our community can benefit from better mental health, which is why I’m reaching out to you today.
We invite you to join us on a weekly journey towards improving our mental well-being through Mental Health Moment. This 10-part video series produced by Deri Latimer serves as an important reminder to all of us to take a moment to reflect on our own well-being.
Deri is a speaker, author, and resilience and well-being expert with over 25 years of experience engaging people on how to be more resilient, more mentally well, and more energized at work and in life. She combines the wisdom of positive psychology with the experience of working in a complex world to create happier, healthier, and more humane places for us all to work and live.
Our first Mental Health Moment is a one-minute meditation designed to help you connect with yourself. Learn how to build a new healthy habit and ‘pop into presence’ in just one minute.
Welcome to our second Mental Health Moment! Learn how to hack your brain’s natural tendency to look for what’s wrong and choose to focus on ‘what’s good’ at work, home and in the mirror!
One sure way to increase positive emotion in others, and yourself, is to let people know what you appreciate about them.
Worries are often a rumination of the worst-case scenario of a concern. Using this quick strategy can help you to put the concern into perspective, and remind you of the resources available to you, no matter what.
You can choose a story - about yourself, your relationships, your work, your family - that works FOR you, rather than one that might be working against you.
When challenging emotions arise, let it R.A.I.N; Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nourish
Explore alternative possibilities and potential outcomes to expand your perspective, with a simple 'what if'.
Speak to yourself like you would speak to someone you love.
Speak to yourself like you would speak to someone you love. We often treat thoughts as though they are facts, when they are 'just thoughts'.
Join us as Deri reminds us to find a moment to be grateful for something everyday, big or small.
