Television service provided at no cost to improve comfort of patients

Temporary visitor restrictions and physical distancing measures present additional challenges for patients in hospital. With no visits from loved ones and limited opportunities to interact with other patients, the days can feel long and lonely.

To improve the comfort of patients, The Vic Foundation activated free television service on all patient TVs at our hospital within hours of visitor restriction measures taking effect. Television service could not have been offered at no cost without the generosity of our community.

“We are grateful for the incredible outpouring of support from our community at this time,” said Charlene Rocke, Executive Director of The Vic Foundation. “Access to television service provides patients with recreation and an ongoing connection to the world beyond the hospital’s walls, as well as respite from their health concerns when needed most.”

The Vic Foundation has funded four months of television service to date and is working in close collaboration with our hospital to determine ongoing needs.
